Of microtransactions and
Of microtransactions and three card monte and online with loot boxes and things that play like Principality of Monaco’s main source of income. Oh those loot boxes and the Wads-O-Dosh, doubloons, and other goodies. Look at this news(1).
“EA has been playing defense on Star Wars Battlefront II for nearly a week. While early coverage of the game was positive, highlighting deeper multiplayer and a genuine single-player story, things have changed in the run-up to launch. Players were extremely unhappy to discover that it could take 40 hours to unlock heroes, and EA’s initial response to this absolutely didn’t help.
While the company has slashed the cost of major heroes, follow-up stories have detailed how the loot crate system is fundamentally a play-to-win gambit, in which players who spend real-world money will have huge advantages over those who don’t. Now, Belgium is investigating the loot crate situation and EA’s attempts to do damage control via a Reddit AMA appear to have backfired.
Let’s talk about Belgium first. Belgium is investigating EA on the grounds that the loot crates in Battlefront II could constitute gambling” (1)

More bad security news for
More bad security news for those using windows 8 and above(1).
And what the hell is with the US post office and that damned informed delivery nonsence with all our letter’s outsides scanned into the system so we can track who is sending what letters. That’s crazy and can be accessed online by P.O. Box renters and even for residential addresses and probably easily hacked into also. I use snail mail for privacy and now everybody and their dog will be getting their auto addressed letters scanned and that info made available via a web portal via the USPS(Really not tops in security on that or any government computer).
Hell I do not even use online banking and other government online based services just to try and reduce my online attack surface and now the USPS will be creating one more level of attack vector even for folks that do not opt-in because the USPS has no way of users to tell the USPS that they do not even what that service offered on a wide scale via the internet.
This is pure madness and that Intel Management Engine nonsence and this new windows 8/10 sddress randomisation crap just adds to the madness!
