Yeah, that doesn’t exist.
Yeah, that doesn’t exist. There isn’t even one single 4k monitor that’s faster than 60hz with *-sync and IPS. From any manufacturer.

My video cards are rendering
My video cards are rendering 4k @ 100FPS in most games. 140FPS if I turn anti aliasing off. (BF4, BF Hardline)

I’m ready for the next iteration of display port so I can have 120hz+

The new and old ROG require roughly the same amount of GPU horsepower to drive it at its max fps.

While the 4K model has 2.25 more pixel to render compared to the old ROG Swift, the FPS is capped at only 60. The old ROG is up to 2.4 times faster. Hence both require the same amount of GPU power to drive.

GPU framerates aside, 60Hz
GPU framerates aside, 60Hz @4k is nearing the physical limit for DP 1.2, there is simply not enough bandwidth available to go much higher. 3840 × 2160 × 24 bpp @ 60 Hz signaling requires 12.54-14.26 Gbit/s out of a possible 17.28 Gbit/s according to wikipedia. DP 1.3 (max 25.92 Gbit/s) can barely accommodate up to 120Hz @4k.

PG278Q owner here, yep… yep… I may get a 4k 60hz Panel, but it’s only going to be a second monitor and probably not a Gsync, more of just a random monitor as a workspace. My ROG Swift is where it’s at for gaming.

You are talking to someone
You are talking to someone who changes a monitor almost every year . Last year i was gaming to one of the best IPS monitors and it had none problem , it was the well known IPS glow that exists in each and every IPS panel and low contrast which also exists in every IPS panel , even in LG’s best TV sets . I am also gaming in a Panasonic 50VT30 plasma which is unbeatable in every regard and i still prefer my Acer TN monitor because it doesn’t fall too behind in picture quality but Gsync is the one way to go . The technology to look at in the future is OLED . IPS is garbage for gaming and good only for professionals .

Because TN is absolute
Because TN is absolute garbage. All TNs are basically for monitors what 2$ wallmart speakers are for audio equipment.

TN still costs so much only because kids who think they know what “pixel response time” means think they are MLG PROZ.

You got unlucky with your IPS. Big woop… should have changed it.

Now with 100+hz IPSs, TN garbage can finally die and rot in hell.

I just don’t understand why people keep wanting an IPS monitor for gaming . I had one of the best and the IPS glow was a disaster . You can even see it in the video above .In the dark scenes of Farcry 4 you can’t see anything . A good TN monitor with Gsync and high refresh rate is still the best gaming option .

yeah, if you are that niche who has tri-titan z’s or something go for this. otherwise the current 1440p swift is the way to go, as long as you luck into a working one. read the rog forums, so many nightmares, mine has held up now after a couple months or so though. you just cant go back from how smooth it is, I feel like more shots have gone my way in battlefield and such as well

Once you go up to 144 Hz you won’t go back.
I’ve just bought the previous model and could give it back without loosing money but I will keep it, because I think 1440p/144Hz is the sweet point for competitive / FPS gaming.
Nice to see a new model though, really interested how the panel will turn out (true 8-bit or higher).
