The Eve Spectrum Gaming Monitor, HDMI 2.1 And 4K At 144Hz

A Reason To Pick Up An RTX 3090 or RX 6900XT

We are finally starting to see 4K displays with high refresh rates that are under $1000 and the hardware to be able to push it; unfortunately those GPUs are still far over $1000.  The 27″ Eve Spectrum 4K Gaming Monitor supports both Freesync Premium Pro and G-SYNC, so you are not limited to one vendor to be able to get variable refresh rates.  It offers connectivity including HDMI 2.1 , DisplayPort 1.4 , USB-C and legacy USB.

Eve might be a new company but they seem to know what they are doing as Tweaktown described it as “beautifully presented, and so easily put together and turned on.”  Eve offers a stand with the Spectrum 4K as well, which is capable of rotating from landscape to portrait as well as providing height and rotation adjustments as well, for an extra $100 if you don’t plan on using a monitor arm.

The Eve Spectrum will cost you $800 without the stand, which is somewhat higher than the competition, but then again not everyone wants a 48″ display.  The packaging and overall design of the monitor are well worth the time to take a gander at.

Eve Spectrum (ES07D03) promises it all: 4K 144Hz + 1ms response time + HDMI 2.1 for your Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5, too.

The monitor on my kids PC just died and I decided to hand-me-down my monitor to them (21:9 IPS LG 25″ 2560×1080) and get a ‘gaming’ monitor. Ended up with an Acer EI272UR Pbmiiipx which is a 27″ 1440p 144Hz VA monitor with Freesync on the DP and one of the HDMI ports. It has two more 1080p HDMI inputs and supports a lot of PIP modes plus some gaming modes and *supposedly* some kind of HDR. 🙂 But HDR is only at 60Hz.

My RX580 8GB is now struggling in a few games. 🙂 But, Freesync really workes great to hide the frame rate variability! I’m very impressed by it.

And, yes, the 144Hz desktop is a sureal experience like everyone said it would be.

I don’t have any real cautions for it. It’s pretty much exactly the monitor that I wanted. I think I listed the possibly unexpected limitations in my first post, but here’s a summary:
1 DP and 3 HDMI ports but only the DP and the first HDMI ports support the 144Hz and HDR input modes. The other two supposedly only support 1440p60, but *I have not hooked anything to anything but the DP input*

The cruvature is taking a while to get used to. The app lets you adjust a bunch of setting that you normally set in the OSD, but it doesn’t let you do *everything*, so don’t expect to forget about those five little buttons under the front right edge. If you have questions, I will try to answer them.
